"Shit babe, that fuckin' hurts!" Gojyo exclaimed as Hakkai's skilled hands rubbed over sensitive, broken flesh.

"Sorry Gojyo, but you want this to heal properly, don't you?" The healer asked.

"I guess.  But chicks do dig scars you knOW!" Gojyo twitched as fresh pain ran up his arm.

"Do they now?" Hakkai asked innocently.

Gojyo let out a small grunt, but said nothing in return; instead he continued to watch as Hakkai bandaged his arm.  Occasionally the twinges of pain alternated with the tingle of Hakkai's fingers against his sensitive flesh.  Gojyo leaned his head back against the head board, frustrated.

"Fuckin' youkai." Gojyo muttered, then as an after thought, "Present company excluded, of course."

"Of course," Hakkai responded mildly.

"Oh, come on.  You know what I mean.  Those mindless bastards that chase after us all the time.  Not you, or me, or my bro.  Just those one line wonders."

"I understood what you meant, Gojyo," Hakkai replied as he began to clean up the small mess he had made.  "I'm done with your arm.  I would tell you to go easy on it for a few days, but I realize that would be fruitless."

"Hey, s'not my fault we've been getting attacked more often."

"I know, Gojyo.  It's not anyone's fault."

"I guess.  But if it wasn't for the false priest, we wouldn't be here."

"Now now, Gojyo," Hakkai began as he crawled onto the bed to sit between Gojyo's legs, "We both know that the Sanbutsushin order him to bring us."

"I know," Gojyo replied as Hakkai leaned back.  With the healer so close, Gojyo could take in Hakkai's scent; that mix of musk and sandalwood that he associated with so many things: comfort, security…home.

"We've had some good times though, haven't we?" Hakkai asked sounding almost dazed as Gojyo ran his fingers through the healer's hair.  Gojyo thought the statement wasn't really a question; more like Hakkai wanting some sort of confirmation that they weren't wasting their lives, mission to save the world or not.

"Yeah, I guess so," Gojyo replied absentmindedly.  He was suddenly very caught up in the feel of Hakkai leaning against him.  "Seeing the monkey tanked was pretty funny."

Hakkai snorted, "Sanzo was not happy about that, though."

"Ch.  I bet he was laughin' on the inside.  He ain't all sour grapes."

"Perhaps," Hakkai replied as he began to trace his hands over the seams and wrinkles of Gojyo's pants.

After that, there was silence as the two lovers began to trace patterns over familiar territory and Gojyo thought he might be able to forget that he was in some shitty inn in the middle of nowhere, instead of his shitty little house on the outskirts of civilization.  As he began to place light kisses on Hakkai's neck and shoulder, he thought he might be able to forget all about crazy youkai and asshole monks and eating machines disguised as adolescents.  When they were like this, Gojyo could pretend none of it existed, even if it was only for a little while.

Not thinking clearly, Gojyo suddenly gripped Hakkai in a firm embrace, quickly regretting it when his arm muscles twitched, sending a nasty pain up his arm and down his spine.

"Son of a bitch!"

"Your arm?"  Hakkai asked as he turned around, Gojyo's healthy arm still draped over him.

"Yeah," Gojyo growled.

"Would you like me to take your mind off of it for a while?  Perhaps a little therapy?" Hakkai asked suggestively.  The look on his face was a mix of compassion and devious intent, something Gojyo thought looked so alien and yet so right on the healer's face.

The red head couldn't help but laugh, "You know, I really hate this fuckin' journey."

"I know, so do I."

"But I'm glad I'm here."

Hakkai smiled, "So am I Gojyo.  So am I."
